A message from Philip McCreary, St. Bernard Catholic School principal
Dear St. Bernard families,
At St. Bernard, our parish school’s goal is to serve the needs of the parish community.
In an effort to explore how we can best meet the needs of the St. Bernard School and Parish community, we are looking into the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) model for our school.
Dual Language Immersion in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is a model of education in which students matriculate from transitional kindergarten or preschool through Grade 8 learning, and communicating social and academic course content in two languages. Students also experience daily prayers, Masses, celebrations, and performances in both languages.

We will be working with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles DLI Network Team to do a Feasibility Study to determine whether we should transition to the DLI model. A Feasibility Study Committee will work with Father Perry Leiker, pastor, and Philip McCreary, principal, to review the results of the study in order to determine whether the DLI model will best meet the needs of our community.
The committee will look at data from several sources, including, but not limited to, surveys of teachers and parents, focus groups involving parish and community members, as well as demographic data from the community and financial records of the school.
Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you may have.
Blessings,
Phillip McCreary,
principal
