'Come follow me … Be my disciple'
Hosted by Father Perry D. Leiker, pastor, this parish retreat focuses entirely on the words and teachings of Jesus.
"What could be the outcome of such a search?" Father Perry asks us. "If we go on a retreat to search for more faith — for the presence of Christ in our lives, for joy, for hope, for a sense of belonging, to be freed from their pain or confusion — what might occur?"
Talk 1
"Creation and Salvation"
Let us see if we can experience God working in us today.
Talk 2
"The Call to Follow"
What Jesus is looking for is disciples. He said, "Come and follow me. I want you to be my disciple. When I'm gone, you're going to tell the world what I told you." This is our call: to be a disciple. I don't think too many get there.
Talk 3
"The Call to Compassion"
I believe that this is a very central desire of Jesus and very central desire of the Christian life. I think to be people of compassion is a central call and Jesus is always showing compassion for sinners and those in need.
Talk 4
"The Call to Serve"
Jesus is asking for a whole life of service. What does Jesus mean when he talks about serving?
Talk 5
"The Call to Unconditional Love"
Jesus is saying, "I've got something for you here. It's called unconditional love. You gotta get this. Because this will change your life."
Talk 6
"The Call to Forgive, Not Judge"
I do think that there are a lot of people in our church and in the Christian life that see God as remembering every sin. But that's not what Jesus shows us.
