A reflection for Tuesday of the Seventh Week of Easter

+ Out on the streets, one of the first questions asked of street gang members — and, therefore, oftentimes one of the last — is: “Where you from?”
People die because of their answer, because of the territory from which they come or where they live or with which they identify.
Jesus responded to a different question that might have been phrased: “Who you from?”
His answer would simply be: “I come from the Father.”
In fact, he identified so completely with the Father that Jesus often said: “The Father and I are one. He living in me, and I living in Him.”
But more that that he offered the same identification and union for us when he spoke thus: “So that they may be one just as we are one.”
In this surprising revelation, the Lord spoke of unity among the members of the church with one another, as well as unity with him, therefore creating in us and for us a unity with the Father.
Amazing!
That might explain his concern that we might get lost, or the “world” might infect us or take us away from him, or that we might be misled — even from some of those among us.
How tenuous! How tentative!
Paul felt and expressed the same thing.
Let us pray
+ Lord, you promised to consecrate us in Truth.
Lord, you did consecrate us in truth in baptism.
Help me/us to recognize and believe and appreciate with all our heart and soul this consecration and anointing which you generously gave and did to us.
Make it stick! Make it real!
Make it make us to LIVE, LIVE, LIVE!
