A reflection on the daily readings by Father Perry.
+ Humble. Trusting. Seekers of peace. Needy and poor. God stands with these people. God watches over them. God loves them and reveals himself to them.
“Blessed is he/she who comes in the name of the Lord.”
+ And so, just crying out to the Lord isn’t enough — especially in time of trouble.
Oh no, it takes much more than that. It is a relationship, and like all relationships, we gotta give it time and space and respect.
Relationships grow because we value them and they value us; it is give and take. And the foundation — oh Lord, the foundation! Everything depends upon that foundation.
Is it solid? Is if flimsy? Does it withhold during storms? Is it like a house of cards? Whew! And down it tumbles?
So build it on rock. Build it on him who is a rock and a stronghold. And don’t build it alone. Get a strong partner to help you/me build that house. Get God, let God, have God, receive God, find God, be found by God, take refuge in God.
Then I/we can say without a moment of hesitation, “Blessed is he/she who comes in the name of the Lord.”
