In great harmony with our God

A reflection on the daily readings by Father Perry.
+ And so, Malachi gives us final words in our Advent journey that have been spoken and proclaimed by God: “Lo, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me.”
Then, in one last threat from God (ain’t this Old Testament loaded with these threats? I guess the people of God were very slow learners!), God tells us what he wants the people to do — and this is big!
He says he is sending Elijah the prophet to give us a message that will have this effect. God wants the prophet to speak to the people in such a way as “to turn the hearts of their fathers to their children, and the hearts of their children to their fathers.”
Not a bad message for Christmas, really!
+ Then we get the birth of John the Baptist today, with all of the miraculous details.
Wonderful!
Then tomorrow (at the vigil Mass), we begin our celebrations around the birth of Jesus the Lord.
There is nothing short of wonder and beauty, and the angelic, the pastoral, love of family, joy, light, hope, faith, and peace!
+ Glooooria in excelsis Deo!
