A reflection on the daily readings by Father Perry.
Hey, it feels great to be “on the winning team.”
That is what John tells us. That is what the psalm tells us. That is what the Gospel tells us.
In the Christ there is life!
And do tell what God has done for Israel and us: He has “strengthened the bars of your gates [you are protected]”; and “has blessed your children within you [you are fertile and will have abundant blessings and inheritance]”; and “granted you peace and given you the best of wheat”; and “He has not done this for any other nation.”
In other words, Israel, you all are so loved, so completely loved! And the leper, you, me, and us have the cleansing, healing, and restoring touch of the Christ in our lives of the Spirit.
Yes! Not superficially, but in the deepest most profound recesses of you, me, and our hearts and souls.
The Christ, the Holy One of God, gives life and brings life and restores life always, again and again — with precision, wholeness, gladness and joy.
John says it most clearly: “Whoever possesses the Son has life.”
