Dear friends,
With heavy hearts we announce that Monsignor Patrick McNulty, St. Bernard Catholic Church pastor emeritus, passed away on Friday night, Feb. 12. He was 95.
A native of Ireland, Monsignor McNulty served as pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church from 1973 to 1992, and was honored with the title of monsignor by Pope John Paul II in 1993.
For the 75th anniversary of St. Bernard Catholic Church in 1999, Monsignor McNulty wrote: “We call to mind all the lives that have been touched for good over these years. As we enter the new millennium, let us pray that the same spirit of love may lead us to eternal happiness.”
For St. Bernard’s 50th anniversary in 1974, then-Archbishop of Los Angeles Cardinal Timothy Manning wrote to Father McNulty: “Those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith rejoice with us in heaven. We who remain must continue our pilgrimage of service and of response to the word until our turn comes.”
Funeral services for Monsignor McNulty will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
We extend our condolences and prayers to Monsignor McNulty’s family, friends, and brother priests.
Thank you for your service, Monsignor McNulty. Rest in peace.
