Jesus’ invitation is the acceptance of the kingdom into our lives

A reflection on the daily readings by Father Perry, for the Memorial of St. Maximilian Kolbe, priest and martyr.
+ God, through Joshua, in his own way said: “Come to me.”
And three times the people declared: “We will serve the Lord.”
Three times they renounced allegiance to any other gods and acknowledged their ONE, TRUE GOD!
Three times they united in appreciation for all that God had done for them, all the wonders God had worked.
Three times they “made their choice” and Joshua, having done his part, was free to die, to hear the voice of God calling: “COME.”
And so he did.
+ Jesus, very simply said the same: “Let the children come to me.”
And they did.
And he said that the kingdom belongs to “such as these.”
And it does.
And so he calls you and me: “COME.”
+ And the invitation is the acceptance of the kingdom into our lives. And in our response we are clearly echoing the words of the psalmist today: “You are my inheritance, O Lord.”
