How much will we allow our Lord to love us?

A reflection on the daily readings, for Tuesday of the Fourth Week of Advent, by Father Perry.
+ The “sounds of love” are in the air.
The “lover” sings out: “Arise, my beloved, my dove, my beautiful one, and come!”
And exulting is in the air, as the cry goes out: “Shout for joy, O daughter Zion!” “Sing joyfully, O Israel.” “Exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem!”
But in the Gospel it happens.
O it happens, in a lovely dialogue of greeting, speaking and listening.
There is even “dancing” within the womb.
Now this, yes; this is Divine Joy, spoken in a wonderful question or almost disbelief: “And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”
+ Indeed, the language of love and the language of faith are wondrous and mystical and expansive; they mean truly to guide our spirit into places of life where we are remade and renewed, and our God/man/woman connection is wondrously and joyously revealed to us!
It is all like music to the ears and we simply must rejoice as the psalmist proclaims: “Exult, you just, in the Lord! Sing to Him a new Song!”
