A reflection on the daily readings, for Tuesday of the Second Week of Advent, by Father Perry.
Comfort. Guilt Expiated. A quick and a direct/straight pathway to him.
And above all, a glorious and faithful and powerful God who will protect and gather and carry and feed his lambs/us.
All is said so lovingly and intimately to Israel. All is said always and forever, to you/me/us/all!
And in a most similar vein, Jesus tells a short parable about “100” sheep with the unfortunate loss of “1” of those sheep leaving “99” safe and sound, but “1” gone/lost/helpless/in need of rescuing.
And find and rescue this shepherd does, lest even “1” of these little ones would be lost.
What an amazing Advent message. We are waiting for the celebration of Christmas when we can and will find our Messiah, our Savior, our Christ.
And lo and behold, we find ourselves lost (sin has a way of doing that to us), and then we find that the Messiah — our Savior, our Christ — finds us!
Is it ironic? Is it mystery? Or is it just the simple yet profound truth of our very human-ness and need for divine-ness in our lives and in our journey of faith?
The human gets found by the divine — and love abounds!
