Paul and Silas are attacked, stripped, beaten, and thrown into jail.
After midnight a mysterious earthquake shakes loose all the chains and all the prison doors.
Paul and Silas go free and they save the prison jailer from suicidal fear. They preach and baptize the guard and his family.
And clearly the dance goes on!
Meanwhile, Jesus breaks the hearts of his disciples as he tells them of his departure plans, then reassures them of the gift of the Spirit — the advocate.
He gives them hope.
And the dance goes on!
But we also note that some will prefer not to dance. The won’t look and see, and they will not listen and hear.
And not only them, we too are called to enter the dance — the divine dance.
It takes our cooperation, it takes our desire, and it takes our willingness to “follow along” so that the Spirit can lead us, work through us and make it an eternal marathon dance: never to end, and always to bless!
