Jesus is the waters that give us life

+ Life-giving waters. Healing waters.
Abundance. Blessing. Grace.
And it flows, flows, flows!
We are a Baptismal People, and water is so precious to us.
Not only do we acknowledge that after oxygen water is the most important thing that we need just to live.
In other words, without water we die.
But not only that, we also recognize an incredibly powerful life that comes, spiritually, from those baptismal waters.
And in today’s Gospel, this poor crippled man so longed to get into the healing waters of Bethesda when they were “stirred up.”
And Jesus, so full of compassion and power, bypassed the miraculous waters. He became waters that gave life as he healed this man, and this man walked away whole and well.
We simply must stop and appreciate those same waters that gave us life!
With the psalmist, we can proclaim
“Come! Behold the deeds of the Lord, the astounding things he has wrought on earth.”
Behold the things he has done for us!
