This God is something else

A reflection on the daily readings, for Saturday of the First Week of Advent, by Father Perry.

+ This God of ours is truly a God of promises.

And, oh my, the many and wondrous things the Lord promises.

He will stop your tears, answer all of your prayers, give you food and water and seeds and plants, teach you, tell you when to turn right or left, feed your lambs, and help your animals to till the soil.

And even when judgement and destruction should come your way, he will bind up and heal your wounds.

Oh, my! This God is something else!

+ And Jesus, the fulfillment of this promise, cured and pitied, and loved and proclaimed the kingdom.

And then, he even called forth and sent out disciples to become a part of this promise to share in the ministry of healing and preaching and helping all who could and would see and hear to discover the kingdom of God in their midst — the kingdom of God within themselves.

Promises made! Promises kept!
