A reflection on the daily readings, for the Feast of Sts. Simon and Jude, apostles, by Father Perry.
By Father Perry D. Leiker, pastor
+ Sacredness is everywhere today! Yes, this letter to the Ephesians proclaims it so! —
“You are fellow citizens with the Holy Ones and members of the household of God.”
O.M.G. This is a sacred moment, a sacred insight shared, and a sacred calling.
Sacredness abounds!
Then, Jesus goes up on the mountain to pray. Another sacred moment. And when he came down from the mountain, yet another sacred moment and sacred activity followed as he called his Twelve and began the sacred moments and sacred activities that would follow.
Actually, one might ask if there is not more sacredness for all, everyday — all of us —, and much more than we would usually admit.
Do we see it? Do we hear it? Are we aware? Do we care? The scriptures do not skimp on the sacred. The scriptures lead us to See it, and Hear it, and be Open to it!
And actually we could, and should all, probably admit that Jesus is the door to the sacred. Through him, we all have access to it. And through him, we all become sacred!
