The Western Association of the Order of Malta, together with the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, will host the Mass and Anointing of the Sick at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 cathedral.
All are welcome — especially those in need of this blessing who are suffering in body or spirit.
The Mass will include Anointing of the Sick, the Blessing of Caregiver’s Hands, and a Blessing with water from Lourdes. Attendees will receive Lourdes Water and a Holy Card. The Mass is bilingual (English and Spanish).
The World Day of the Sick is an observance, in the Catholic Church intended for “prayer and sharing, of offering one’s suffering for the good of the church and of reminding everyone to see in his sick brother or sister the face of Christ.”
The day was instituted on May 13, 1992, St. John Paul II, and since 1993 it is celebrated on Feb. 11, also the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes.
