SUNDAY AND WEEKLY READINGS,
AND USCCB RESOURCES

Readings from scripture are part of every Mass — at least two readings, one always from the Gospels (three on Sundays and solemnities), make up the Liturgy of the Word.
In addition, a psalm or canticle is sung.
Although the readings are taken from the Bible, the readings are proclaimed using a lectionary — a book specially designed for liturgy.
The 2024 liturgical year Sunday readings are taken from Year B of the weekend calendar. The daily readings are taken from Cycle II of the weekday calendar.
