Sunday, weekday readings | USCCB resources

SUNDAY AND WEEKLY READINGS |
USCCB RESOURCES

Readings from scripture are part of every Mass. At least two readings, one always from the Gospels (three on Sundays and solemnities), make up the liturgy of the world for to listen and be nourished by the Good News. In addition, a psalm or canticle is sung.
Although the readings are taken from the Bible, the readings are proclaimed using a lectionary — a book specially designed for liturgy. For the 2025 liturgical year, the Sunday readings are taken from Year C of the readings calendar; and the daily readings are taken from Cycle I of the weekday readings calendar.
