A reflection on the daily readings for Tuesday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time by Father Perry.
+Mary chose the better part. Martha was anxious and worried. Mary’s part cannot and will not be taken from her. Martha’s anxiety and worries will take from her everything — even her health, even her life (at least a good and peaceful and stress-free life).
The king of Nineveh chose the right thing: He listened and believed and humbled himself and set the right path for man/woman/beast alike — no water, no food, sackcloth, ashes, repentance and change of heart, and new hope and new life.
Well, today is a simple story, a simple truth, a simple way to live.
As the good book says: “Let him who have ears to hear — listen!”
And I would add to that: “Listen with the ears of the heart.”
